PARISH PRAYER 5/10/15
Almighty and ever-loving God, giver of wisdom and truth, bless us, the people of All Saints’ Church as we search for our next rector. Guide us in our mission to honor Jesus Christ through prayer, acts of love and unconditional kindness and by extending radical hospitality to all. Guide the members of our Ministry Discernment Committee that, with humility, patience, curiosity and joy they may each hear the voice of your Holy Spirit speaking to and through them as they do their work. Guide those priests who are also in discernment, that our Discernment Committee and Vestry may recognize the one you are calling to join us in serving this parish, our diocese, the world. These things we humbly pray in the name of your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God of Love and Peace, Hear our prayer. |

And Mary said,
"My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations will call be blessed;
for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation. . . ." - Luke1:46-50

I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower.
He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit.
Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit.
You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you.
Abide in me as I abide in you.
Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine,
neither can you unless you abide in me.
I am the vine, you are the branches.
Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit
because apart from me you can do nothing.

Maundy Thursday april 2, 2015
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.
For I have set you an example, that thou also should do as I have done to you.
Very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them. If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him.
- The Holy Gospel According to John 13:14-17

The Liturgy of the Palms
In the midst of pervasive despair and in the face of oppressive power
the prophet Zechariah declared:
Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem!
Lo, your king comes to you: triumphant and victorious is he,
Humble and riding on a donkey,
on a colt,
the foal of a donkey.

MEDITATION:
We can all please God.
We must only choose well.
Many go abroad to study, pursuing knowledge far from home,
but the kingdom of God is always here and now, wherever you are, within you.
Precisely because the kingdom is within, and God is our friend, our salvation only requires that we be willing.
- Athanasius of Alexandria

Meditation:
"We live in a time of struggle between truth and lies,
between sincerity (which almost no one believes in still) and hypocrisy and intrigue.
Let's not be afraid, brothers and sisters;
let's try to be sincere, to love truth;
let's try to model ourselves on Christ Jesus.
It is time for us to have a great sense of selection, of discernment."
